Introduction

Each artwork by Akihiko Takeda embodies awareness, tireless exploration, and creative sensibility bridging Japanese tradition and Western influences.

Takeda's journey begins with mastering techniques, learned and honed through years of study and practice. His oeuvre spans from the outset across metal, plaster, and clay, encompassing various processing techniques and characteristics, eventually surpassing initial learnings by experimenting and seeking new methods.

From metal, crafted into thin sheets, emerge new forms, while forged and cast into precious jewelry. Plaster assumes increasingly essential volumes and smooth surfaces, and clay is employed with various firings to create artworks in terracotta and ceramics—particularly focusing on incised ceramics. His artistic expression culminates in multimaterial artworks, combining diverse materials to their fullest potential.
