Starting from the study of components and firing techniques, Akihiko Takeda refines his clay working technique by bridging the gap between past and present, tradition and innovation.
Takeda applies a dual treatment to the clay: on one hand, he uses porous red clay fired at temperatures below 1000 degrees Celsius to create terracotta works; on the other hand, compact clay fired at temperatures above 1000 degrees Celsius is used for ceramic works, one of the oldest and most esteemed art forms in Japan.
The collection not only includes figurative works but also everyday use items such as vases and tableware, further showcasing the versatility of the artist.
